Holidays are sometimes make us relax with the surrounding circumstances. Depends on the activities planned. The plan is our choice in determining what we will achieve in the future.

Discipline is a habit that can help us achieve certain goals. Of course, the nature of discipline must be accompanied by patience. Discipline is also made to strengthen ourselves against situations that we always face every day.

In working or studying, either alone or with a team, of course, we have goals or objectives. Whether it’s completing a task or an existing problem. When there is blocking or obstacle in doing something, we will probably look for and think of a solution for the obstacle.

For example, in programming, there is blocking when writing a line of code. One way to solve this problem is to find a solution through googling. However, when googling we are always tempted by other, more interesting topics. At that time we also postponed our responsibilities. This causes problems in the future.

From this example, we know that lack of discipline causes procrastination. The following are some of the factors that lead to a lack of discipline:

  1. Limited understanding of responsibilities or tasks performed.
  2. Lack of ability to manage multiple tasks
  3. Inability to manage available resources.

In addition to mastering skills, we also need discipline so that the things we do can be completed on time. Once we understand, of course, we will feel a lot of benefits. For example:

  1. Discipline reduces the possibility of unexpected outcomes. For example, when we don’t delay, surely other plans will work as expected.
  2. The allocation of time becomes more balanced and the sense of responsibility for what is done increases.
  3. Prevents the stress created by rushing to hit a ‘last minute’ target.

So how do we become more disciplined individuals? Based on my experience, we can do the following:

  1. Find out the purpose of life and also set priorities.
  2. Take the time to set an agenda for yourself and others. Make details of all allocations and time targets to be achieved.
  3. If needed, we can use the alarm as a reminder of the plans that have been made.
  4. A self-reward is when you have succeeded in reaching the target that has been determined the previous day.

So those are various ways to become a more disciplined person every day. In the book Atomic Habit, of course, we need to get better even if it’s one percent every day.
